Here's an interesting story.

Here's the link to the full article. But the jist of it is that Majority Leader Tom DeLay is a huge douchebag. Novelty size.

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who has helped lead a congressional effort to keep Terri Schiavo alive, joined members of his own family nearly 17 years ago in allowing doctors not to take extraordinary measures to extend his father's life, a newspaper reported today.

DeLay had just been re-elected to his third term in Congress in 1988 when his father, Charles DeLay, was severely injured in an accident. As the elder DeLay's vital organs began failing, the family chose not to connect him to a dialysis machine or take other measures to prolong his life, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday, citing court documents, medical records and interviews with family members.

"There was no point to even really talking about it,'' Maxine DeLay, the congressman's 81-year-old mother, told the Times. "Tom knew, we all knew, his father wouldn't have wanted to live that way.''

Once Again, The Onion Gets it Right

EPA To Drop 'E,' 'P' From Name
WASHINGTON, DC—Days after unveiling new power-plant pollution regulations that rely on an industry-favored market-trading approach to cutting mercury emissions, EPA Acting Administrator Stephen Johnson announced that the agency will remove the "E" and "P" from its name. "We're not really 'environmental' anymore, and we certainly aren't 'protecting' anything," Johnson said. "'The Agency' is a name that reflects our current agenda and encapsulates our new function as a government-funded body devoted to handling documents, scheduling meetings, and fielding phone calls." The change comes on the heels of the Department of Health and Human Services' January decision to shorten its name to the Department of Services.

Looting Angkor

This breaks my heart. The place is so beautiful. Ali! Save Angkor! Please...

Also, note that André Malraux, a former Culture Minister, looted the place also, at age 23, because he was broke. That jerk now rests in the Pantheon, next to Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, Jean Moulin and Marie and Pierre Curie. She made him pancakes

So you probably heard about this on the news but this story is so fascinating. I think it's because violent criminals are never portrayed as being human in the media. Which is understanable, its hard to find the humanity in a killing spree. So it's interesting and unusual and complicated when you realize that these criminals are people.

USA Today Poll

A USA Today poll says 56% of people they polled were in favor of the ten commandments being placed in government buildings. What the poll fails to ask is the percentage of people who would be in favor of a cresent moon or a buddha in government buildings. I bet the response would be much lower. I'd like to remind everyone that the consitution says separation of church and state, not separation of non-christian church and state.
