Why...could it be?!?! (v2.0)

Is it the birthday of a Mr. Paul Madavi? Why, I believe it is!*

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAULIE!!!

I will be excited to give you your birthday pinches when I boogie through Madison around, say, July 24th/25th...?

Love, Jen

(*New and improved to, say, be posted on the correct date.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAULIE!!!!

An interesting article

From the LA Times on stem cell research in animals. One of the creepiest quotes:

"Stanford law professor Hank Greely, who chaired the ethics committee, said the board was satisfied that the size and shape of the mouse brain would prevent the human cells from creating any traits of humanity. Just in case, Greely said, the committee recommended closely monitoring the mice's behavior and immediately killing any that display human-like behavior. "

Close Enough!

Hi Jen! Thank you so very much! I believe today is actually the birthday of one Gabe Carleton Barnes. My birthday is on Friday. Regardless of which, the news of you coming down in July 23/24 is jubilacious to say the least. I hope you're ready for wonderful dining, fresh tasty Wisconsin beer, and of course, plenty of James time! Maybe, weather permiting, we can even paddle out on the lake!

FUN TIMES!!!

Kambuja-desa

My excitement over heading to Cambodia has meant that I've been checking out a lot of travel websites when I should be finishing papers. I came across this site and have really been enjoying the pictures, so I thought I would share. I can only hope my trip will be so photogenic.

CONGRATULATIONS JEN

That is awesome! What a fantastic feeling, school plus not being in debt. I am beaming with pride.

On a different note, welcome to the exquisite hell that is grad school.

I too have good news as I've unofficially gotten funding for my Cambodia trip this summer from a certain alma mater we all know and love.

Woohoo!!!

Update: So, I am officially going to Harvard. And I don't have to pay for any of it. And I'm *really* excited about that.

And, according to Claire (who would clearly be considered somewhat of an expert in this field), Caroline Sturm will be in Boston, too!

Also, it's school vacation week here, which means that instead of talking to the wee potsmokers, I am in the office writing reports about them. Or not, apparently, since I'm posting to all of you.

Check it out!

Alison, you inspire me...

...in many ways, but especially to post a little list of my own!

1) I broke up with Aaron. It just wasn't working.
2) I got into grad school! All of them!
3) I haven't decided where I'm going yet...I'm leaning heavily toward Harvard, but right now, UNC is giving me more money, which is really attractive. But! I'm a finalist for a big-ass fellowship that would put Harvard on the same financial ground as UNC, and then it would be a no-brainer. I should hear Friday, hopefully.
4) I am planning my cross-country road trip. I'm planning on leaving Seattle mid-July, which should put me in Madison around July 20th, once you add in the requisite stops in Glacier and at Mount Rushmore. So all you Wisconsinites: I can't wait to see you!
5) My job is wacky. And by wacky, I mean "wacky tobacky."
6) My volleyball team, the Ferocious Penguins of Mayhem, is 1-1-0 in our league. In our past two seasons (as the Fuzzy Marmots of Doom and the Bitter Rodents of Malice), we have been winless, so we've already set a record.
7) I'm looking for a roommate in Boston. JP to be exact.
8) Overall, life is good. Really good.
9) I miss you all!
10) xoxo, Jen

A list in no particular order

Of things that have happened recently.

-Unbelievably beautiful weather here in Madison. High of 75 and sunny, woo!
-Paul returned from his vacation with J and Pete and Andy and Wrestlemania, I hear a good time was had by all
-I purchased my tickets to SE Asia! Right now I just have tickets to Bangkok and I'll be getting separate tickets to Phnom Penh from there. For those of you keeping track at home I'll be gone from May 17th-July 2oth.
-This is crunch time for me, about one month left of school.
-I've been trying to catch up with people I haven't talked to in ages. Jen Katz and Claire you two are next on my list-watch out!
-And obligatory picture of james to finish it off.
