Well,
Barack Obama is coming to Madison. Tomorrow night, he's going to have a rally at the Kohl Center. Ato Micah is having a little pre-party at his place that I'll be going to. I'm very excited to see him and hear him in person. He's one of the few people in the world of politics who has actually given me hope for the future. Obama had
success this weekend on the campaign. I can only hope that it continues and he takes Wisconsin. Hey, if we can elect
Russ Feingold to the Senate, we should be able to get Obama our delegates.
In a double dose of politically good news, Mitt Romney dropped out of the race, and creepaziod Mike Huckabee is almost mathematically eliminated. This means that the Republican candidate is John McCain. The good news is that McCain is the only Republican candidate to disparage torture, and especially torture in Guantanamo. The bad news is he's a Republican. Still, if America loses it's mind and votes in another Republican, I'll live with McCain. The rest seemed a little to interested in Stalinist semantics and rationalizations in regards to torture.
Back to Obama for a minute. Yesterday, my friend Susan said going to the rally is a no-brainer. Something along the likes of seeing
Dr. King speak back in the 60s. I'm not sure if Obama will have that kind of impact. But he is seeking the office in one of the most crucial times we'll see. He seems to be the only real possibility for change. And change is what we desperately need.
